Tryout Summary

Soccer Club of Oak Ridge is committed to providing each player access to the proper level of competition. As we recognize that each player develops at their own pace, we truly mean we are committed to providing each player access to the highest level of competition appropriate for where they are within their development cycle.

Providing each child with a fair opportunity to reach their personal goals is equally important to SCOR. We believe those players that demonstrate the skills, the passion and the personal responsibility to compete at higher levels deserve to be prepared to do so.

We also believe those that may not be as skilled yet, but demonstrate a passion for the game and show personal responsibility, need to be nurtured so they too may reach their goals. For these reasons we believe annual tryouts are a fair and equitable means for providing all players with the opportunity and venue to develop and compete within their skill, passion and level of commitment.

FAQS

  • Do players have to attend all nights of tryouts?

All players must attend tryouts to be considered for a place on the team, even returning players.  It is recommended that players attend 2 of the 3 night

All potential players must register for tryouts even if injury will prevent them from attending.

If you are unable to attend tryouts, please contact Elise Morris @ elisemmorris@gmail.com - but still register

  • Is my child guaranteed a spot on a team?

After tryouts players are placed on teams based on their ability.

Depending on the number of players in an age group or grouping will depend on the number of teams we can create.

If we don't have a spot for a player we create an individual soccer plan to keep the player connected to the club and developing.

  • What happens after tryouts

Within days of the last tryout being completed for the specific age group/gender, an email will be sent out to all players who attended.

Parents and athletes will then have one week from the date of receiving the acceptance email to accept their spot.

  • How do I know what age group my child plays in?

When determining the age group for a season, the year the season ends should be used for determining the birth year. Also note that the format “U followed by age” really means that age and younger. For example, U8 should be read as 8 and younger.

  • Who will coach my child?

Staff coaches are assigned to teams within the age pool and overseen by the Program Director. We desire to provide one coach to one team.

  • Can my child take the winter off from soccer and resume in the spring?

This depends case by case, unable to guarantee a roster spot.
